Animal Rescue League Files Charges Against Kennel Owner

WAREHAM – The Animal Rescue League of Boston’s Law Enforcement Department filed criminal charges with the Wareham District Court against Middleboro resident Michael Perette.

The charges levied against Perette include five felony charges of animal cruelty against a variety of animals including a donkey, four birds, and about two dozen dogs.

He’s also charged with 23 misdemeanor charges of neglect and abuse for each of the dogs in the rear facility on the property.

The ARL and other partnered shelters are caring for the animals seized by police and animal control from Perette in October.

Most of the animals were Cane Corso and Dogo Argentino adult dogs, however a peacock, several ducks, and chicken were found on the property as well.

The animals will be put up for adoption after undergoing medical care and behavioral evaluation and are stated by the ARL to be friendly.

The ARL thanked the Middleboro Police, Animal Control, and its partnered shelters for assisting in the rescuing of the animals.
