Annual Independence House Breakfast To Address Domestic Violence, Substance Abuse

HYANNIS – Independence House in Hyannis will address both domestic violence and substance abuse at its signature community event next week.

The annual community breakfast will feature a number of speakers, including a survivor of domestic violence. Keynote speaker Cheryl Bartlett of Cape Cod Healthcare will address the ongoing substance abuse epidemic. Dr. Richard Ferri, the Assistant Medical Director and Nurse Practitioner at South Bay Mental Health will speak about his four decades of experience with domestic violence and substance abuse.

The event will conclude with a candlelight vigil in memory of homicide victims of domestic violence in Massachusetts over the last year.

The event takes place on October 8th at 8 am at the Double Tree in Hyannis. Seating is limited and reservations are needed by October 2.

Independence House is a Hyannis-based counseling and advocacy center working to address and prevent domestic and sexual violence.
