Annual Maritime Symposium to be held for 20th Time

BREWSTER – The 20^th annual Cape Cod Maritime Symposium will be held next month at the Cape Cod Museum of Natural History in Brewster.

The day-long event will be held on Saturday, May 21 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The symposium, which is a part of the Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce’s Cape Maritime Days, will feature four lectures.

Andrew Lipman, an assistant professor of History at Barnard College and Columbia University, will present “The Saltwater Frontier: Indians and the Contest for the American Coast.”

“Stephano, firend of the Wampanoag: The True Story of Shakespeare’s Shipwreck” will be the second lecture and given by Hit and Run History’s Andrew Giles Buckley.

Ryan Cooper will present “The Artistry of Ship’s Figureheads” and Executive Director of the Henry Beston Society Don Wilding will discuss “Henry Beston’s Cape Cod: How ‘The Outermost House’ Inspired a National Seashore.”

Tickets are $45 in advance and the event also includes morning refreshments, lunch and museum admission.

Admission at the door, if available, will be $50.
