Annual Motorcycle Ride to Benefit Children in Need

BOURNE – Hundreds of motorcycles will take to the roads of the Upper Cape this weekend for an annual event to benefit local children in need.

The 18th Annual Chris Wetherbee Memorial Toy Run is on Sunday. Bikers will ride from Eagles Hall in Buzzards Bay to the Carriage House in North Falmouth.

Anywhere from 150 to 250 motorcyclists will donate toys to benefit children in four local shelters. Registration for the event runs from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. before kickstands go up at 11 a.m.

The event is named in honor of Christina Wetherbee, who died of cancer of 1999. The run is organized by her husband Joe Wetherbee and his second wife Clarissa and is supported by the Cape Cod Harley Owners Group of Pocasset.
