BARNSTABLE – The Northeast Heavyweight Champion in professional boxing will fight again on Cape Cod for the second time this year, this time at his alma mater.
Jesse Barboza, a 2004 graduate of Barnstable High School, and several other fighters will square off at the school on November 28 in an event presented by Boston Boxing Promotions.
A Harwich native, light heavyweight Paul Gonsalves, will also compete in a bout.
Last August, professional boxing returned to the area for the first time in over a decade. Boston Boxing Promotions Co-Owner Peter Cymbor confirmed the event was attended by a capacity crowd of over 800 spectators.
“I think the show in August was such a success because there was a demand for a sport like boxing… I think people were craving something like that back on the Cape,” Cymbor said.
Cymbor also said that the success of the last event was partially due to the two native fighters being back on “home turf.”
The full card for this season’s fight on November 28 will be available soon, Cymbor said.
Tickets are currently on sale at www.CapeCodBoxing.com.
