Applications Being Accepted for Thomas C. McGowan Fund for Animals Grants

SOUTH YARMOUTH – The Thomas C. McGowan Fund for Animals of The Cape Cod Foundation is accepting applications for grant opportunities.

Grants funding will be provided to nonprofits for projects and programs that benefit domesticated animals and wildlife on the Cape and Islands.

The application process is entirely online at capecodfoundation.org and the deadline to apply is December 1.

The fund distributed $40,000 to nonprofits last year and almost $270,000 since its inception.

The fund was established in 2009 through a gift from the late Thomas C. McGowan, who was passionate about animals and wanted to ensure that there would be funds to support their protection and welfare.

McGowan indicated a preference for initiatives that supported medical treatment, “no-kill” shelters, spaying/neutering of domestic animals, the prevention of cruelty to animals and education and public awareness-building on related issues.
