Artist to Present Climate Art on Barge off the Coast of Woods Hole

WOODS HOLE – Artist Heather Theresa Clark is presenting climate change artwork on a barge off the coast of Woods Hole on Friday at noon.

Clark has teamed up with Martha’s Vineyard’s The Yard and the musician Christen Lien for the sea performance.

The artwork is meant to embody the emotions surrounding the dangers of climate change and the hope for solutions moving forward.

Clark is the first artist-in-residence at the Woods Hole Research Center, which is ranked as the world’s number one climate change think tank.

She developed the artwork after spending this summer interviewing climate scientists at the Center and other scientific institutions.

Members of The Yard will perform on a marine construction barge with a crane, which will be anchored in Great Harbor in Woods Hole.

The team will also create over-sized photos, video and text about how the piece relates to climate change that will be shared online and at a traveling exhibition.

The event is free and open to the public.
