Assembly of Delegates Seeking Public Input for Charter Review

BARNSTABLE – The Barnstable County Assembly of Delegates will host a public hearing later this month to gather input for an upcoming Charter Review.

The hearing is Wednesday, July 17 at 4:15 p.m. in the East Wing Conference Center at the Barnstable County Complex on Route 6A.

The Assembly is seeking comments on suggested topics to be considered during the review.

Anyone wishing to testify will be welcome to do so during the hearing. Written comments may also be submitted at the hearing, by email to [email protected], or delivered or mailed to the office of the Assembly of Delegates, P.O. Box 427, 3195 Main Street, Superior Courthouse, Route 6A, Barnstable, MA 02630.

A charter review is required by the Home Rule Charter at least once every five years, or in years ending in five or zero.

The outcome of a review will help the assembly determine if any Charter amendments or revisions are necessary or desired.

The existing charter is available from the office of Assembly of Delegates and on the assembly web page at www.barnstablecounty.org/regional-government/assembly-of-delegates/official-documents/.
