DENNIS – The Association to Preserve Cape Cod has sent a letter to Scott Pruitt, administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency, expressing concern fossil fuels.
The EPA has proposed repealing the Clean Power Plan which requires large reductions in electrical power plant emissions of carbon dioxide, the biggest contributor to climate change.
The letter points out that based on overwhelming evidence and fact-based research, the world body of scientists has concluded that the burning of fossil fuels is an imminent threat to the health, welfare and lives of the human population.
According to some recent data, the APCC said the climate is close to thresholds that will result in potentially irreversible catastrophic changes.
The organization said Cape Cod is already dealing with the effects of climate change including sea level rise, erosion and an increase of the frequency and strength of coastal storms.
The letter was signed by the APPC’s Executive Director Andrew Gottlieb with copies sent to Sen. Edward Markey, Sen. Elizabeth Warren and Rep. William Keating.
