Author of ‘Attack on Orleans’ to Speak in Eastham

attack on orleansEASTHAM – Orleans holds the distinction as being the only spot in the United States to receive enemy fire during the first World War.

The Cape Cod National Seashore will be hosting an evening with Author Jake Klim to discuss the attack which occurred on July 21, 1918.

A German U-Boat surfaced three miles off the coast of the Cape and attacked an unarmed towboat and her four barges with a handful of shells fired striking Nauset Beach.

Klim will give a one-hour presentation at the Salt Pond Visitor Center on Tuesday, July 14 at 7 p.m.

The author was born and raised on Cape Cod and currently is a television producer and writer based in North Bethesda, Maryland and has worked on productions for the History Channel, the Military Channel, the National Geographic Channel and the Weather Channel.

He will sign and sell copies of his book following the presentation.

The program is part of the Tuesday Evening Series at Salt Pond Visitor Center held throughout the summer.
