Author Casey Sherman Donates 2 Manuscripts to Hyannis Public Library

HYANNIS – Cape Cod native and award-winning author, Casey Sherman has donated two of his most recent manuscripts ‘Above and Beyond’ and ‘12’ to the Hyannis Public Library during a ceremony this week.

Born and raised in Hyannis, Sherman wanted to give back to the place that gave him so much by handing over the texts.

“I think that this town, Hyannis, this place, Cape Cod, is incredibly special. I mean it’s great to see this community spirit alive and well, as it was when I was a kid walking down Main Street,” says Sherman.

Sherman says that he handed over the manuscripts to make kids realize that inspiration can come from a variety of avenues; “I just want them to start to think ‘this is how you write,’ ‘this is how you develop a story.’ I think that anytime you can touch something [like a manuscript] it becomes that much more real to you. To me it’s all about excitement. I want to get students here in the Barnstable school system excited about reading and possibly writing,” he said.

‘12’ tells the story of Tom Brady’s comeback after starting his 2016 season suspended for under-inflating footballs in their playoff victory against the Indianapolis Colts in 2015.

‘Above and Beyond’ tells the story of President John F. Kennedy and two U-2 pilots, Rudy Anderson and Chuck Maultsby, who risked their lives to save America during the Cuban Missile Crisis.
