Authorities: Taunton House Explodes, Bursts Into Flames 

ambulanceTAUNTON, Mass. (AP) — Authorities say a Taunton woman is lucky to be alive after her home exploded and burst into flames.

Police say 52-year-old Laurie Beliveau escaped her home unscathed late Sunday afternoon.

The blaze destroyed the single-family home after firefighters arrived. The flames have since been extinguished

A spokesman for Columbia Gas of Massachusetts says that a gas leak or a similar malfunction is possible.

State Fire Marshal Stephen Coan confirmed that gas was involved.

An investigation into the cause of the explosion and fire will resume Monday.
