YARMOUTH – Governor Charlie Baker came to Yarmouth Friday night in support of his Republican colleagues running for local office.
The fundraiser at the Yarmouth House restaurant was presided over by Barnstable County Sheriff James Cummings and brought a host of other Republican pols together in support of State Senate candidate Anthony Schiavi of Yarmouth and 2nd Barnstable State Representative candidate Will Crocker.
“My commitment to everyone on Cape Cod and the Islands, like Baker’s, is that I will put their ideas to work and be their advocate on Beacon Hill to solve a variety of issues that affect them,” Schiavi said.
While Baker addressed a large crowd of attendees, he stressed the importance of having local government officials in his own cabinet and administration.
“People who have served in local government know what it means to be accountable to the people who put them there,” Baker said.
Schiavi faces Democratic candidate Julian Cyr in the November, while Crocker will face off against political newcomer Aaron Kanzer.
