BOSTON (AP) — Gov. Charlie Baker is heading to Washington.

The Republican is planning to spend Wednesday hunkering down with federal officials and the state’s all-Democratic congressional delegation to talk about transportation and health care issues, including the state’s ongoing opioid crisis.

Baker will meet with Amtrak CEO Joe Boardman in the morning to talk about recent Amtrak system issues at South Station that have affected the MBTA’s commuter rail system. State transit authorities want to be able to fine Amtrak for service disruptions.

Baker and state Health and Human Services Secretary Marylou Sudders will then meet with the congressional delegation to discuss the state’s opioid epidemic and other health care issues.

Afterward Baker will meet with U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services Sylvia Burwell.
