Baker Orders Flags at Half-Staff to Honor Mass. Native Killed in Afghanistan

BOSTON – American flags across Massachusetts were ordered at half-staff on Friday in honor of Fall River native Sergeant First Class Eric Emond.

Governor Charlie Baker ordered that the United States of America flag and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts flag be lowered to half-staff from sunrise until sunset at all state buildings.

SFC Emond was killed in Afghanistan on November 27, 2018 by an explosive device detonated during combat in the Ghazni Province.

Emond will be laid to rest in Arlington National Cemetery on Friday. He was 39-years-old and leaves behind a wife and three daughters.
