Baker Proclaims Today “National Lobster Day”

lobsteringBOSTON – The lobster is being celebrated today in Massachusetts.

Governor Charlie Baker has proclaimed today “National Lobster Day” in celebration of the state’s vibrant lobster industry. The celebration comes at the beginning of October, the busiest time of year for lobstermen.

Baker says lobster fishing is the Commonwealth’s oldest industry, and adds that the local industry is one of the world’s largest provider of lobster.

The local lobster industry is a major driver of economic activity on Cape Cod. Over 50 ports in Massachusetts support commercial lobster trap fishermen.
