FALMOUTH – Local dancers will have the opportunity to learn from a Joffrey ballerina while supporting the Dana Farber Cancer Institute.

Dancing For A Cure has arranged master classes to be taught by Maggie Kudrika, also known as the “Bald Ballerina.”

Kudrika, 24, was diagnosed in June 2014 with stage four breast cancer. She began a rigorous chemotherapy program and has been travelling around the country sharing her story, teaching classes, and dancing.

“My main message is that no one is immune from breast cancer. Anyone can get it at any age. I was 23 and I got it,” Kudrika said.

After her diagnosis, she starting calling herself the bald ballerina.

“Going through chemo I didn’t wear a wig, I only wore a hat when I was going outside and it was cold out. I really just wanted to show people you can still be yourself with or without hair,” Kudrika

Kudrika visits the Cape on August 15 and 16, leading master classes at the Turning Pointe Studio in East Falmouth. She will teach classes in ballet technique and rep/variations.

Dancing For A Cure holds year-round events to raise funds for Dana Farber.
