HYANNIS – The town of Barnstable is accepting applications by artists and artisans for next year’s Hyannis HyArts Artist Shanty program.

The shanties, which are open weekends from May through mid-June and then seven days a week through Columbus Day on the water front at Bismore Park, feature jewelry, paintings, photography visual art, ceramics, glass work and more.

The shanty program started in 2005 to provide opportunities and exposure for local artists and artisans to showcase their work, boost the economic climate in downtown Hyannis, and to establish vibrant backdrop for residents and visitors.

First round applications are due by Friday, October 28 and can be found at hyartsdistrict.com.

Artists will be juried and first selections will be made by December 31. Additional applications will continue to be accepted on a rolling basis for any remaining spots for the 2017 season and will be filled based on need and availability.
