Barnstable Board of Health to Hold Hearing on Lifeguard Exemption Requirements

BARNSTABLE – The Barnstable Board of Health is holding an upcoming public hearing to discuss and review lifeguard exemption requirements.

The public hearing will be held on Tuesday, February 27 at 3 p.m. at Barnstable Town Hall.

The board previously voted in favor of removing the lifeguard and qualified swimmer requirements for only those low usage semi-public swimming pools associated with facilities containing 75 units or less.

The deregulation is proposed to continue to be in effect untnil such time alternative guidelines or regulations are provided by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health in this regard; but in no case shall this deregulation continue after December 31, 2022 without the approval of the Board of Health.
