Barnstable Board of Health to Revisit Swimming Pool Regulations

HYANNIS – The Barnstable Board of Health will once again debate swimming pool lifeguard exemptions this month.

A public hearing is scheduled for Tuesday, February 27 at 3 p.m. in town hall.

The board of health previously voted in favor or removing the lifeguard and qualified swimmer requirements for what they refer to as “low usage semi-public pools.”

Those included hotels and housing complexes that that have 75 or fewer units and meet other criteria.

The interim policy was put into effect until alternative regulations or guidelines are provided by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health.
