DENNIS – On Wednesday, about 20 members of the Barnstable County Dive Rescue Team conducted their monthly training in Cape Cod Bay approximately one mile from Sesuit Harbor in Dennis.
During the 3 hour training session members performed a number of underwater searches using a variety of patterns that would be utilized when conducting water based search and rescue operations.
In addition, members trained on donning and doffing their newly acquired suits/equipment, water entries, boat operations, and area familiarization.
The team, which was funded through a Federal Homeland Security grant, consists of 40 firefighter/divers from a variety of Cape Cod Departments.
Members train on a monthly basis at various locations throughout Barnstable County to ensure the knowledge, skills, and abilities of the divers along with their response capabilities are maintained at peak operational readiness.
