Barnstable County Real Estate Sales Volume and Value Remains Strong in November

HYANNIS – The volume of real estate sales in Barnstable County last month was up 16 percent from November 2015 volume and the total value of sales was up over 15 percent from the previous year.

There was also a 41.7 percent increase in the volume of mortgage activity from November 2015 levels.

The median individual property sale value was up more than 4 percent from the previous year, with the median sale price around $360,000.

“November can be hot and cold and so it was a little cool last year obviously in terms of activity but it was a nice, strong November this year and that’s a positive,” said Barnstable County Register of Deeds Jack Meade.

So far this year, the volume of sales is up 11.6 percent, total value of sales is up 14 percent, individual sales value up 3 percent and mortgage volume is up 12.2 percent.

Looking ahead to the coming months, Meade said that January, February and March are typically the slowest months for activity in the year.

“The volume numbers are going to be lower, but the values tend to dip as well and that happens, but that’s not unusual as we go into the winter,” said Meade.
