BARNSTABLE – Barnstable Town Council has approved $8,500 to be spent on a software modeling system that will create a computerized map of the Town’s wastewater collection system.

DPW staff will be trained and will be responsible for maintaining records and updates.

Town officials believe that the system will eliminate the need to hire additional consultant services for updates to the model.

The computer model could be used during Site Plan Review, to confirm if existing sewer infrastructure can handle additional wastewater flows.

The system will also be used to identify any additional infrastructure needed during future capital improvement planning.

Council members also approved $65,000 to fund the implementation of a new work order and asset management system program.
