Multiple Bomb Threats Received by Cape Schools

Barnstable Police respond to Barnstable High School after a bomb threat was received on Monday.

HYANNIS -Barnstable High School and Monomoy Regional Middle School received bomb threats Monday Afternoon.

The threat  at Barnstable High School was received by phone around 1 p.m. and Barnstable police responded to investigate the threat.

Principal Patrick Clark said police determined the threat was low-level and not credible.

Students remained in the building and a mass phone message was sent to families.

Clark said evening and afternoon activities would proceed as scheduled.

This is the second time in three weeks the school has received a threat.

Both Barnstable High School and Mashpee Middle-High School were evacuated after receiving threats on February 1.

Monomoy Regional Middle School also received a threat by phone around 1:20 p.m.

Chatham police responded to the school which was evacuated immediately by students and staff.

Police and school officials searched the school but did not find any suspicious items, according to police.

Students and staff returned to the building around 2 p.m. and remained in home rooms until the normal dismissal time at 2:30 p.m.

All activities at the school were cancelled for the evening.
