BARNSTABLE – The Town of Barnstable has awarded scholarships to a number of local college students.
The Martin J. Flynn scholarship program is funded by a voluntary checkoff on real estate bills in Barnstable and supports town residents on a year basis.
This year’s recipients were: Scott Hanson (Mass. Maritime), Courtney McEneaney (South Carolina), Erin Richard (Cape Cod Community College), Gracy Sullivan (Massachusetts-Amherst) Meaghan Wiggin (New Hampshire), Allison Carter (Massachusetts-Amherst), Laurel Fournier (Massachusetts-Amherst) and Norbu Sonam (Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute).
The students were honored at a recent Barnstable Town Council meeting.
A scholarship committee meets each year and determines which applicants will receive the awards.
The Martin J. Flynn Scholarship program was established by Barnstable votes in 1985.
