Various walks along pathways and trails throughout Barnstable will occur during the weekend.

On October 7 at 10 a.m. the walk will be held at Crooked Cartway in West Barnstable/Marstons Mills.

The three mile two hour wooded walk over easy terrain uses trails that were previously used as cartways and are now part of a large network of walking paths maintained by the Town of Barnstable.

On the same day at 1 p.m., a walk will be held at Meetinghouse Farm in West Barnstable.

The one and a half hour easy walk is over wooded and open terrain and is an opportunity to view and learn about the most beautiful and unique trees that grow on the open space property.

On October 8, a mile one hour hilly walk will take place at Old Neck Road in Barnstable Village.

The walk will cross through typical Cape pine/oak forest and will note evidence of glaciers and remnants of old stone walls from early agricultural life.

And on October 10, at 1 p.m. there will be a 4.2 mile walk at Sandy Neck in West Barnstable that will take over two hours.

The strenuous hike will take participants through soft sand and includes the salt marsh, dunes, freshwater wetlands and an opportunity to see migratory birds and small diamondback terrapin hatchlings.
