BARNSTABLE – The Barnstable Land Trust is reorganizing for the future.

The founding Executive Director Jaci Barton is taking on a new role of Land Protection Specialist to focus on preserving open space.

“There is no person whose presence and skill is more synonymous with saving land than Jaci Barton,” said Barnstable Town Manager Tom Lynch. “Under Barton’s leadership and advocacy. BLT has protected nearly 1,100 acres in Barnstable’s seven villages.”

The Board of Directors has appointed Pamela Danforth of Centerville as Interim Executive Director.

“Pam is a knowledgeable professional in the not-for-profit sector, and is committed to environmental protection and the mission of BLT,” said John Miller, the president of the Barnstable Land Trust’s board of directors.

Danforth was most recently a member of the board for the land trust.

The organization’s transition plan includes a search for a permanent executive director which launches this summer and the creation of a multiphase strategic plan.

The land trust has been preserving open spaces and natural resources throughout the town for over 30 years.
