Barnstable Mourns Death of Town Council President Jim Crocker

HYANNIS – Friends, family and colleagues are mourning the unexpected death of Barnstable Town Council President Jim Crocker.

Crocker, 62, died on Friday in a Boston hospital. The cause was not immediately known.

“The Town of Barnstable is saddened by the sudden passing of Town Council President Jim Crocker. Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife Gail, his daughters, family and friends at this difficult time,” read a statement on the town’s Facebook page.

Crocker had served on the town council from precinct five for several years and was also involved in several other community organizations.

He was a 14th generation Cape Codder and had served as a member of the Centerville, Osterville, Marstons Mills Fire District’s Prudential Committee and the Osterville Village Association.

Crocker was the owner of Wianno Realty in Osterville and had been in the real estate business for 27 years.

He ran twice for Cape & Islands State Senate as a Republican, winning his party’s nomination in 2010.
