BARNSTABLE – Barnstable will be the next town on the Cape to have its own dog park.

The Stanton Foundation has issued a $24,000 grant to the town that will cover design costs for the park.

The Foundation has also agreed to fund the majority of construction costs for the park, which is over $200,000.

“We’re very excited to be able to see that project move forward and it’s really on a fast track at this point in time,” said Town Manager Tom Lynch. “I would expect that people should be enjoying that the facility sometime this summer or early Fall.”

The new dog park will be located near the entranceway of Hathaway’s Pond.

“We’re a community that does offer various places where one can take their pet but they’re not always year-round and this will be a nice safe area for them,” said Lynch.
