Barnstable Officials Reminding Public of Change to Sign Ordinance

BARNSTABLE – The town of Barnstable’s Building Department is advising residents of a recent policy change to the existing temporary signs on public property ordinance.

The revised policy includes restrictions on the number and placement of temporary signs on public property, along with prohibiting signs on memorial sites or traffic islands.

The revision was crafted to balance the need of the community to publicize non-profit events while preserving the integrity of memorial sites and ensure traffic safety through the town.

Applicants seeking to install signs on public property will need to register with the Building Department before placing signage.

For more information on registering a temporary sign or the ordinance visit the town’s website.
