Barnstable PD Responds to Two Crashes in 10 Minutes

HYANNIS – Barnstable police were busy this afternoon after two accidents occurred on the same road just 10 minutes apart.

Police and fire crews responded to the first crash around 1:30 p.m. in the area of BMW of Cape Cod on Yarmouth Road.

Fire Captain Craig Farrenkopf said the accident involved two cars and rescue crews transported both drivers to Cape Cod Hospital.

One of the drivers was a 62-year-old woman who suffered non life-threatening injuries.

The other driver, a man, was taken to the hospital for evaluation.

Just 10 minutes later, police responded to another accident on Yarmouth Road near Old Yarmouth Road.

The chain reaction crash involved three vehicles but there were no injuries, according to Barnstable PD Sergeant Mike Riley.

Riley said that traffic heading northbound on Yarmouth road was diverted onto Old Yarmouth Road for about 25 to 30 minutes.
