Barnstable Planning Board to Discuss Zoning for Marijuana Establishments

HYANNIS-  The discussion to regulate adult use marijuana establishments in the Town of Barnstable will continue as the Planning Board considers two separate zoning amendments Monday night.

The first item on the docket proposes to create a Cannabis Overlay District and regulations for establishing, and operating, marijuana establishments sponsored by Councilors Britt Beedenbender, Jennifer Cullum, and Paula Schnepp.

The second proposes to prohibit non-medical marijuana establishments town-wide, sponsored by Council President Eric Steinhilber.

The “Current Applications” section of the Planning Board website contains the full text of both proposals, supplemental materials, and a link to video of the Town Council and Board of Health’s joint workshop on Recreational Marijuana.

Maps of the proposed overlay district can be found in the “Rec Marijuana Regulations” file.

The planning board meeting will take place at 7:00 PM in Barnstable Town Hall. Public comment is welcome.
