BARNSTABLE – The Enoch Cobb Early Learning Center Playground and Hyannis West Elementary School new modular classrooms opened to the public on Wednesday.

Barnstable Public Schools held an opening ceremony, which included representatives from the school district, Barnstable town officials.

The Enoch Cobb Early Learning Center opened in September 2015.

The playground, which is fully accessible and therapeutic, was built with support from the Barnstable Disability Commission.

“All of the spaces on the playground are accessible for all children and it’s a state-of-the-art design, you don’t see too many playgrounds like this,” said Barnstable Schools Superintendent Meg Mayo-Brown.

The new modular classrooms replace the portable trailers that had been used as classrooms for decades.

TBA Architects, Inc. came up with the design for the modular construction and Vanguard Modular built the classrooms.

“Between the two spaces, the play space and the classroom space, it’s really a terrific environment for children,” said Mayo-Brown.
