Barnstable Receives $15,000 Through Massachusetts Clean Vessel Act

VesselBARNSTABLE – The Town of Barnstable received $15,000 through this year’s segment of the Massachusetts Clean Vessel Act to fund operation and maintenance of the town’s pumpout program.

Barnstable received funding for the program each since 1995.

The town operates two pumpout vessels during the summer months.

Funding for the Massachusetts Clean Vessel Act is provided through the Federal U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s Sportfish Restoration Program.

Each year, the Massachusetts Division of Marine Fisheries applies for the federal funding to help support clean water and the No Discharge Zone that includes all state coastal waters.

Town officials said that the funding is critical to their clean water initiative which supports their natural resources.
