BARNSTABLE – The Barnstable School Committee is closer to filling its open position, having narrowed the original eleven candidates down to three.
The committee will hold a joint meeting with the town council tonight at 7:00 to interview the finalists.
After this second round of interviews, a vote will determine the new member, who will serve a four year term.
Susanne Conley, Barbara Dunn, and Edith LaBran were chosen as the finalists earlier this month.
The four-year term is open after Margeaux Weber resigned from her seat on the committee just hours after taking office for a third term in December. Weber was unopposed in her re-election bid in November.
Weber spent 8 years on the board and served as its chairwoman for 6 of those years.
She mounted an unsuccessful campaign for State Representative in the 2nd Barnstable District in 2016, losing to Cotuit resident Aaron Kanzer in the Democratic primary. Kanzer was defeated by Will Crocker in the general election.
