Barnstable Schools Change Bus Operator

BARNSTABLE – Come fall, students in Barnstable Public Schools will be bused to and from their bus stops by a new company.

As the town’s contract with First Student is set to expire in late June, officials have signed a new contract with Five Star Transportation, Inc.

Town officials said that the company has a strong track record of student safety within the industry.

A request for proposals was issued in November of 2016, for which three responses were received.

An evaluation committee reviewed the responses and determined Five Star was the preferable option.

The new contract runs through June 30, 2022.
