BARNSTABLE – The town of Barnstable is asking residents to consider donating to the Martin J. Flynn Scholarship fund.
The annual fund supports students from Barnstable who plan to pursue a college degree. Recipients are chosen based on financial need, character, their academic record, and involvement in community service.
The scholarship fund is mostly supported by a voluntary check off on real estate tax bills.
The town received $6,000 in donations last year, and handed out 10 scholarships totaling $600 to local students.
This year’s recipients should be announced no later than the end of the month.
