Barnstable Seeks Volunteers for Marstons Mills River Herring Count

BARNSTABLE – The Barnstable Clean Water Coalition and the Barnstable Natural Resources Department are seeking volunteers to count herring at the Mill and Middle Pond fish ladders this spring.

The annual Marstons Mills River Herring Count Meeting is March 16 at 9 a.m. at the Osterville Village Library.

Cape Cod Cooperative Extension Marine Resource Specialist Abigail Archer will discuss herring runs and restoration projects and attendees will be provided with brief training. There will also be an optional trip to the Middle Pond fish ladder.

The family-friendly activity only takes 10 minutes per day.

Volunteers are need beginning April 1.
