Barnstable Town Council Approves Airport Projects

HYANNIS – The Barnstable Town Council has approved the spending of nearly $450,000 for several capital projects at the Barnstable Municipal Airport.

Airport officials had requested the success to the funds for hanger drainage improvements, the addition of a café patio and door, and a forestry mulcher.

$58,000 of the total figure will come from the Airport Enterprise Fund, while the remaining money will be taken from reserve funds.

Each of the projects being funded is also eligible for high-percentage reimbursement money from Mass DOT, expected to be roughly $360,000.

“The State Aeronautics Division reached out to a number of airports in the region to ask them if they had any projects that they wanted to move forward,” explained Assistant Airport Manager Katie Servis, “They had about $3.5 million that they wanted to use and spend before the end of the fiscal year.”

Once that money is secured the Airport will replenish their funds.
