Bay State Gas Prices Fall Another 4 Cents

HYANNIS – Gas prices in Massachusetts are down four more cents this week.

AAA Northeast’s weekly survey found the average price for a gallon of self-serve, regular unleaded gasoline in the Bay State is selling for $2.55.

That price is one cent lower than the national average and 28 cents lower than at this same time last year.

“Gasoline demand in early September generally declines along with supplies as refineries undergo maintenance and prepare for the switchover to winter-blend gas,” said Mary Maguire, Director of Public and Legislative Affairs for AAA Northeast.

“These typical trends mean savings for motorists, leading the way for potentially some of the cheapest gas prices at the end of the year.”

According to GasBuddy.com, prices on Cape Cod are between $2.43 and $2.99.
