Be a Santa to a Senior Program Kicks off Monday

HYANNIS – Cape Cod Home Instead Senior Care kicks off their “Be a Santa to a Senior” program next week.

Area retail stores and local businesses host trees containing ornaments with each ornament containing a gift request or suggestion.

Those gifts are then distributed to seniors in time for the holiday season.

The program has run for 12 years, collecting and delivering over 2,500 gifts to seniors.

“There are so many seniors, right here in Cape Cod that have nothing and no one,” said Home Instead Senior Care office owner Denise Dever. “Through this program, we are able to show them that they are valuable members of our community and that people still care.”

The Christmas trees will be on display at local retailers from November 9 to December 9 and will feature ornaments with seniors’ first names and their gift requests.

Home Instead Senior Care partners with 12 Senior Centers in Barnstable, Bourne, Brewster, Dennis, Eastham, Falmouth, Harwich, Mashpee, Orleans, Sandwich, Truro and Yarmouth.

You can find a “Be a Santa to a Senior” tree at the following locations:

  • Eastham Bank locations
  • Decatur House in Sandwich
  • Cape Cod Beer in Hyannis
  • Oyster Island Emporium in Osterville
  • Good Friends Café in West Dennis
  • CVS Harwich Port
  • Walgreens in South Yarmouth and Mashpee
