HYANNIS PORT – This weekend marks one of the largest charitable events of the summer as the Best Buddies Challenge Hyannis Port celebrates its 19th year.
Thousands of people are expected to participate in the weekend-long fundraiser to support people with developmental disabilities.
The event begins on Friday with the Tom Brady Football Challenge at Harvard Stadium in Boston. A number of Brady’s teammates are expected to join the five-time Super Bowl champion for the annual flag football game.
On Saturday, hundreds of cyclists will bike 100 miles from Boston to Hyannis Port as part of the challenge. There is also a 50-mile route, starting at the CVS in Carver, and a 20-mile route, beginning at the CVS on Tupper Road in Sandwich.
The Challenge wraps up Saturday night with a clambake and a private concert for participants by Rick Springfield.
Brady is once again serving as one of the honorary co-chairs of the event, along with celebrity chef Guy Fieri, Massachusetts Congressman Joseph Kennedy III, and Governor Charlie Baker, among others.
The Best Buddies Challenge supports Best Buddies International, a global volunteer movement that creates opportunities for one-to-one friendships, integrated employment and leadership development for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
