Best Selling Author to Headline Chatham Historical Society Annual Meeting

CHATHAM – The annual meeting of the Chatham Historical Society is later this month and a bestselling author will be the featured speaker.

Sally Cabot Gunning will address the society on Sunday, August 20 at 3:30 p.m. at the Eldredge Public Library.

Gunning’s latest work is “Monticello: A Daughter and Her Father; A Novel.”

She has also penned several historical novels, including “The Widow’s War,” “Bound,” and “The Rebellion of Jane Clarke” and “Benjamin Franklin’s Bastard.”

Gunning resides in Brewster with her husband, Tom, and her family history in the town dates back three centuries.

She has been elected as a fellow of the Massachusetts Historical Society and the president of The Brewster Historical Society.

Gunning has helped to purchase and restore an 18th century sea captain’s home and researches and presents historical tours of her village.

Admission to the meeting is free and priority will be given to society members who may make advance reservations.
