Big Brothers Big Sisters Renames ‘Bigs in Blue’ Program After Sean Gannon

YARMOUTH – Big Brothers Big Sisters of Cape Cod & the Islands is officially renaming its Bigs in Blue Program in honor of the late Yarmouth Police K9 Sgt. Sean Gannon.

Though many weren’t aware, Gannon was a Big Brother in the community-based mentoring program for over three years to a young man from Yarmouth, named Rylee.

He was still an active mentor at the time of his death. With the blessing of Sean’s wife, Dara, and his parents, Patrick and Denise, the organization says it’s “honored to be able to recognize Sean’s dedication in this way.”

Through the program, the organization seeks to honor Gannon’s commitment to community, his dedication to mentoring and to keep his legacy alive the future.

Brief remarks will be made from Big Brothers Big Sisters and Yarmouth Police Chief Frank Frederickson, followed by the unveiling of a plaque commemorating the dedication of the program in honor of Sean will be presented.

The event will be held at the Yarmouth Police Station on Thursday, May 16 at 3:30 p.m.
