Brewster Bike Trail Extension Receives $86,000 Grant

BARNSTABLE – $86,000 has been awarded to the Town of Brewster in state matching grants for a bike trail extension.

Brewster State representative Tim Whelan explained the goal of the project.  “It would take people from Nickerson State Park up to the area of Crosby Landing and Linnell Landing beaches up on the North side,” he said.

Whelan expressed his thanks to the Baker Administration for their commitment to expanding recreational trails throughout the state.  The money comes from the Department of Conservation and Recreation’s Partnership program.

“There’s no more beautiful part of the Commonwealth than Cape Cod.  Our trail system down here certainly is a wide open invitation for visitors to come down, and for our residents, to enjoy the beautiful Cape Cod outdoors,” said Whelan.

Brewster officials are coordinating with the DCR on the extension’s development and completion.

Provincetown State Rep. Sarah Peake pointed out that the extension will allow people to  get exercise and reduce their carbon footprint.
