deMacedo Bill Seeks to Allow Auto Inspection at Massachusetts Dealerships

BOSTON – A bill recently passed in the Massachusetts State Senate would allow auto dealers in the commonwealth to perform motor vehicle inspections.

Under current law, the dealers are prevented from conducting the state inspections at newly constructed dealerships.

The bill, put forward by Plymouth-Barnstable State Senator Vinny deMacedo, mandates that the Registry of Motor Vehicles grant an inspection facility license to any franchised new car dealer that meets the rules and regulations established by the registrar and invests at least $2.5 million of a new or reconstructed facility.

The bill will now be brought before state’s House of Representatives.
