Blanton Trial Delayed

BOURNE –  A lack of jurors is causing a delay in the trial of former Bourne Selectman Michael Blanton on domestic violence charges.

The trial was scheduled to begin tomorrow, but has been postponed to October 2nd.

Blanton is facing charges of assault and battery on a family member, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, threatening to commit a crime and intimidation of a witness, he’s accused of assaulting his live in girlfriend at the time, additional charges were filed in February and involve an alleged assault in November 2017 on the same woman.

At the time of his arrest Blanton was held without bail for several weeks after a dangerousness hearing, he was eventually released under the conditions of GPS monitoring and no contact with his former girlfriend.

He subsequently resigned from the Board of Selectmen and did not run for re-election.

Charges against him in February for violating the no contact order did not hold up in court and he was released again under the same conditions.
