Board of Health Closes Pools at Cape Cod YMCA

closedWEST BARNSTABLE – The pools at the Cape Cod YMCA in West Barnstable have been closed by the Barnstable Board of Health due to a sewage backup near the area of the pools.

The pools could be closed for 24 hours or more until the situation is resolved.

YMCA Cape Cod President and CEO Stacie Peugh said that the testing of the water in the pools showed proper chemical levels.

Peugh added that they did not see any cross-contamination happen, with people that stepped into the sewage backup and then into the pool area and pool, but that the testing is important to be 100 percent sure.
