Board to Release Statewide Scores on the PARCC Exams

ThinkstockPhotos-89526248BOSTON (AP) — State education officials are planning to release statewide scores on PARCC exams this week.

Massachusetts has been giving PARCC — short for Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers — a trial run in some communities.

The goal is to help the board of education determine whether to replace MCAS. MCAS is the state’s primary educational assessment tool and a graduation requirement for high school students.

A decision is expected in November.

The Board of Elementary and Secondary Education is expecting to release statewide PARCC scores on Tuesday.

They’ll include the paper and pencil tests that weren’t included in an earlier partial, preliminary statewide release of PARCC results.

The results won’t include individual scores for students, schools or districts. Those scores will be made available later this fall.
