BOURNE – Members of the Bourne School Building Committee will be available from 10 a.m. to noon today to answer questions regarding the proposed $39.9 elementary school project.

The building would replace the current James F. Peebles Elementary School.

The project passed by a landslide margin of 595-13 at the October town meeting, and now requires approval at the polls on December 6th during town elections.

The current Peebles School, built in 1953, is showing signs of disrepair, and the project is the culmination of a two-year collaboration between Bourne and the Massachusetts School Building Authority.

The MSBA will provide 36 percent, or $15 million, of the cost of construction, leaving taxpayers responsible for the remaining $24 million.
